started to take them yesterday for cellulitus, and went crazy after the 2nd tablet as i started to itch and large blister type things appeared on my head and chest. settled down after a couple of hours, and of course stopped taking them immediately, but just wondered if anyone else had ever had a reaction like that and if it could be an underlying reason as i am not allergic to penacillin.

Firstly you can become allergic to penicillin at at any point, even if you previously had no problem. Secondly you can simply be allergic to a specific penicillin. You were right to stop taking them. You may now need an alternative, depending on what is happening to your cellulitis, and you also need to notify your GP of your reaction.

Yes - I know someone who reacted in a similar way to this antibiotic. The doc advised to stop taking them immediately and prescribed an alternative. As far as I know the patient is not allergic to any other antibiotics.

yes its happened to me and i was never allergic to penicillin. You must inform your doctor as you will be given an alternative antibiotic as you can become allergic to penicillin at any time as i was 31 when it happened to me and now i am allergic to penicillin.Whatever you do you must never take anything containing penicillin again as it can be dangerous to do so as you most definate do have an allergy to the drug.

I would say you NOW are allergic to penacillin.
Allergies can happen to anyone at any time, even though you have been taking them before.
See your GP. but don't take any more tablets though

some people become allergic to things they never used to be allergic to, go back to the doctors and tell him/her, you can get antibiotics without penicillin I think they are called ethromycin but anyway go back,

I hope you get better soon
