If we "fell in love" for selfish shallow reasons ( beauty, popularity, sex etc ), yeah it would fade once the novelty is gone. Its like saving up to buy a toy we REALLY REALLY wanted, once we get it, excitement, then a new toy comes into "fashion" and the old toy loses it "excitement" although it MAY retain some feelings of nostalgia.

But

If we "fell in love" in the spirit of Sharing, Bonding and Connecting, that feeling really could last a life time, it is like discovering we can sing... its a skill we never get tired of.
