The sony seems to give much sharper images. I have a canon and my room mate has a sony, sometimes his camera seems to give sharper images. I never went for the sony because of all the proprietary things, not to mention that its costlier than a canon

The Sony has the best lens, but memory will cost more than for the Canon.

Both are excellent cameras.

Both are a bit over priced for their names.

no contest... canon every time. they have been making cameras for years and make excellent lens optics.

sony use carl zeiss lenses in theirs which are a lower quality comparison.
