I have a degenerative disease of the spine that means i have to have a series of four to five operations every 3-5 years to control the pain. I've had two sets of ops so far and they make a big difference as without them i wouldn't be able to walk the pain gets so bad. I've managed to have a baby and she's now 2 and a half all while suffering with the pain, having ops and recovering. I have about 1-2 years before i'll need the ops again and we're trying for another baby too. The operations cause me to pile weight on, normally between 1 and 2 stone but i've lost two stone in the last six months and am now smaller than i've been in a long time. its all about finding a healthy balance.

I know i'll have to spend the rest of my life in a continuous circle of pain, operations and less pain in between but i keep smiling because i don't want it to affect me. i want a normal life with a family and i'm not going to let a little thing like crippling pain stop me!

When I was 18 i started getting palpatations and fainting, my doctor said i was having panic attacks and i should de-stress and relax more. I went back several times and still the same answer, I found it hard to relax with my heart ticking hard and fast 24/7. So went back eventually he agreed to do some tests which all came back normal and i spent another 6months trying to relax. I was then admitted to hospital after collapsing at work and not coming round for ages, they did and ECG with showed a normal rhythm but a heart rate of 160+ (resting). They have done many tests now and eventually when I was 24 they diagnosed sick sinus. Iam on Ivabradine and they work well, I a few symptoms occasionally but otherwise iam fine. It did however lower my confidence in my gp (i know they are human tho). i have been poorly recently with a kidney infection, not worked with that tho

Hypocondria is an anxiety disorder. It is a difficult one as although the symptons some people get are physical, the cause is physocological (spelt wrong probably!). I imagine that in your eyes, your wrinkles etc are worse than other people see - you sound like you have a self esteem problem are getting extremely anxious and the stress is coming out in physcial forms. I am a hypocondriac too - I constantly worry about my health, if I have a headache I convince myself I have a brain tumour and am going to die!, If I am tired, I think it's the beginning of something sinister! remember, lots of people worry about their health but not everyone talks about it. Sometimes,I have chatted to my friends and find they experience the same things as me and it makes me feel better and "normal". I never used to be like this when with I was younger but as you get older (I am 41), you see people you know get serious illnesses etc and sometimes die and it makes you aware of your own mortality. My advice to you is to take 15 minutes of exercise per day - just quick walking to begin with - that will reduce your stress levels dramatically and your body will get endorphines (feel good hormone). Look on the bright side, think of people who are seriously ill or lying in hospital who would love to be in your position and able to get out and about. Everyone gets aching joints sometimes - I got a job to get my socks on some mornings!! Your body is a complex thing and you will not feel 100%, 100% of the time. Try to have fun, as soon as you are enjoying yourself you will soon forget anything like aching joints!. At 29 you are so young, do not waste this time worrying excessively about your health. At your age, statistically, you are unlikely to become seriously ill. Look after yourself. x

Have you tried therapy.. a support group of some kind? It sounds as if you a your own worst enemy. You are only 29, try and start the healing process. Start with the inside and work your way outwards. Seek professional help. If there is a chance that your hypocondria is slowly turning your body against you, you and only you can stop it. God Bless and good luck.

I think you need to shake yourself up a bit here. Many people live with things far worse than the few minor symptons that you have described, i think you need to see a counsellor about self esteem. many people live with potentially life threatening conditions and don't moan.
I have problems with my joints, I have Psoriatic Athropathy, but if I let it beat me it will.....

I'm overweight too ??? instead of it being the last thing you mentioned, it should have been the first. You sound like you've got some serious self image problems.
