I remember chips wrapped in 'proper' newspaper.
They tried it in 'artificial' newspaper for a while. They did taste better in newspaper. That was real recycling. Isnt it amazing how we are still alive after eating chips out of newspaper........

Hiya, Yes i remember the 70's i used to love going to the chip shop, my friends and i used to go on a Monday evening and get a split (chip's n pea's) for 3d. The crisps i loved but cant buy are Potato Puff's plain flavoured. Ahhh! those were the days, Have you seen the clothes in the shops now they have gone full circle back to the 70's.

Oh yes, I remember bones - I'd forgotten about them! Also Cresta pop with the cool polar bear on the advert! We used to get the crispy bits of batter for a couple of pence from the chippy and as an alternative to malt vinegar, they used to have pickled onion juice to put on your chips. When the money first changed to New Pence, crisps were 2½p a packet and you could get 6 gummy bears for a penny. Does anyone remember Space 1999 ice lollies? - they were green with red runny stuff inside them (the sweetie shop man said it was Martian blood!).

Hey! That brings back memories. I remember going to the chippy with a white bowl, getting a shilling's worth of chips and peas water poured over for free. Those were the days. Crisps? No, never took to those things really except Smiths but I do remember prawn cocktail.

I do remember enjoying all sorts of different flavours - cheese and onion and smoky bacon were my favourites - in those happy days before anyone told us about the harm they might be doing us. Now I daren't eat flavoured crisps any more!

chips in newspaper yummy. I often get chips and when I get home take them from that awful white paper and wrap them in newspaper for 5 minutes before eating them from the paper of course. A penny worth of Scrumps(the bits of batter that fall off the fish.) Ask in any Chinese chip shop and they think you are from some other planet. Princess biscuits, and massive gold and creamy coloured humbugs.
