It depends. I have seen them work well on some and look hideous on others. If it is too big, I feel like I want to "pick" something off their face, hahaha...especially when the stem is too long and they PLAY with it with their tongue, pushing against it and making it stick out even further.

When it is low profile, it can be very nice. I prefer labrets, personally. I think those best accentuate the mouth.

There are no original piercing left. Piercing in general are now mainstream. It’s like the saying “Real men are not afraid to wear pink”. Original people don’t need piercing to be original & hot people don‘t need things to be hot.

If YOU want a Monroe, get a Monroe. Who cares what anyone else thinks? Not caring what anyone else thinks is hot! I was an original punk in the 80’s, we didn't do what we did becuase it was hot or people thought we should. We did things simply because we wanted to and with out a second thought as to what anyone else would think.

I'm very much involved in the punk/hardcore/emo scene and i've seen many-a-monroe piercing. I honestly believe it rarely looks good. In a positive case - It has to be petite, not a huge stud. And you cannot have large facial features. (ie: Large nose, big lips, wide eyes) It's a distraction.

i have three facial piercings, none of which are a monroe, they are a bit old now and its seldom you see a nice one done, usually the jewellery is too long or the outside studd/ball is too large, there are many others you can get that are less obtrusive, i have a labret in the middle, just underneath my bottom lip and a medusa, my upper lip, aligned with the bottom one, neither have given me problems and i have had them 8+ years, monroes are very common, go for something a little more original

It depends. on the person && jewelery. it looks 10x's better when the jewelery is really small. I like mine because I have only seen 2 other people that have it done too. after i take mine out i plan on getting a medusa.

whether it's hot or not depends on the person to be honest. hope that doesn't sound shallow, but it's the truth.
