Presque is, of course, "almost"; but, weren't you asking "Parce que, j'en ai peur." ?

I think you might have heard "parce que" not presque...
with presque... your sentense translates to .... "okay well... i don't know... almost, I was scared!"
with parce que... "okay well... i don't know... because I was scared!"
