I am trying to open files my B/f saved on winRAR and I have no clue .................................where to start ..........I downloaded the trial program ..........and don't know how to open these to read them............they are messages from yahoo messenger

Actually, if it's a .rar file and all he saved were yahoo messanger "logs", then just double-click the rar file to open it. When winrar opens, right-click on the file and choose "View File" OR press "ALT+V". Winrar has a built-in text viewer that will let you read the files... Or you can right-click and choose "Extract to specified folder..." or "Extract without confirmation". You can then open the file in notepad/wordpad/Word or some other text viewer.

Download and install Servant Salamander 2.5 File Manager
Focus desired archive in the panel
Press the Enter key to open archive
To view inner file using associated viewer press the F3 key (Files / View command)
To extract inner file: select it and press the F5 key (Files / Copy command)

Right click on the file and select "Extract here" BUT, before doing so, please scan the file with your anti virus as I wouldn't trust anything sent by an instant messenger program.
