Check with your vet. Many don't charge for a new pet check, only for the medication. He/she can tell you if the goo is connected to an infection or not (could be cat flu, so please please do go). Also, vets can find out if the kitten has ear mites - they've got the right ear instruments to check. Sounds like she might since she's been allowed to get "nits". Ear mites are very hard to see, and she could easily have caught them from her mum. The cat and kitten I adopted arrived with ear mites.

Plus - you say "nits or something", so I think a vet visit would be good to help you identify what that is. Plus medications and dosages can be different for kittens and for adult cats.

On a more positive note, one of my cats used to get a lot of sleep in his eye, whilst his brother and sister had none. I used to say "gummy eyes" and clean it off. I'd recommend you do that for your kitten every day anyway because when I now when I say "gummy eyes" my cat holds his head still for me to check him.

I wish that I had done that every day with his brother and sister too, even though they didn't have anything wrong. When the brother was a year old, his cornea got scratched in a play fight, and I could not get him to hold his head still to look at it.

Check the ears and teeth every day too - then if there are problems later, your little girl is already used to being investigated and it will be less stressful for her of she knows what to expect.

it could just be sleep or dirt if shes been outside but if its kind of a gewy substance and is making her eyes stick together sometimes, mainly in a morning when she wakes up, and are a swollen then it could possibly be conjunctivitis. if so you must take her to the vets and they will give her some antibiotics. if you think it is conjunctivitis then go to the vets as soon as possible as it can cause other infections and possibly blindess if not treated and can become painful if not already. until then if it is what im saying then you can help her out before the vets by simply cleaning around the eyes with cotton wool or buds with warm water or warm milk, but dont try to prise the eyes open if stuck together.

yes its normal, my kitten had mucky eyes i used a tea bag which i left in cup of boiling hot water then drained it off not two much, then let it go cold and apply to kittens eye, use a diff one for the other eyebut make sure the eyes are closed do this twice a day. if it carries on tho contact your vet but you should always get new animals checked out by your vet first before you take anyones advice.

My kitten had mucky eyes for about a month after getting him. It can be a case of a 'cat cold'. You need to take her to the vet straight away and get something to help. If it is as cat cold, it should be treated as soon as possible, otherwise she could develop respiratory problems in later life.

But it is common, so don't worry, she'll be fine with some vetinary advice

Sometimes they get 'colds in their eyes' which cause the muck. I've had many kittens that had this when they opened their eyes. I'd say to wash them out gently or if you're very concerned, take them to the vet and let them decide on medications for their eyes or let them clean their eyes out.

Depends on what you mean by muck but you should always take any new animal to the vet to be checked over. They will be able to give you the correct advice and help you get rid of her infestation.

I'm not sure what you mean my muck, I assume it is sort of like what we refer to as cold from human eyes sometimes when we first wake up. Just take a soft cloth and wipe it away.

It's probably due to an upper respiratory problem. Wipe it away with a clean warm wet cloth, and keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, take her to the vet.

Hi, Take her to the vet's he will help her with medication, she sounds as if she has flea's kitten's catch them from their mother, you have to be very careful how to treat flea's on kittens but your vet will advise you. Just bathe her eyes gently.
