French frys, I normally eat them with plain old kectup, but I was wondering what poutine tasted like. I've seen it befor, but never tasted it.

If you can't recall what poutine is:

In the Canadian provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick, French fries are the main component of a dish called 'poutine': a mixture of French fries with fresh cheese curds, covered with a hot gravy, optionally with browned ground beef and/or a vegetable.

I've never had poutine, but I would try it. Usualy I just eat my french fries salted with ketchup, but i recently found Denny's to have some really good smothered cheese fries, which is just french fries with some melted cheese mixture spread over them and then real bacon pieces sprinkled over it. I know the cheese is cheddar and something else as it leaves kind of a sauce on the bottom of the basket, delicious...

One of my favorites is a hot roast beef sandwich. Only I prefer fries over the normal mashed potatoes as a side. Both covered in a hot beef gravy.
Even the idea of fresh cheese curds and/or vegetable could take it a step farther.

I would say my top favorite was the Batter Pudding my mother used to make from scratch, to accompany any roast beef dinner. My mouth is watering over the memories. Basically Batter Pudding is a yellow cake batter. Before you bake it, you drizzle 6-8 tablespoons of pan drippings from the roast over the top. And bake like a cake. The Batter Pudding comes out marblized with the drippings. You can dip it into the gravy as well. For me those two flavors melded together to put me in seventh heaven.

Some here would think that it will put me in seventh heaven for all the cholesterol. But hey, they probably do not have to fight to keep weight on.

Fries. dressing and gravy with ketchup and vinegar. We would get this at fish'nchips places. The dressing is just breadcrumbs, savory, onions and melted butter mixed together. This will stick to your innards like no other, I really didn't like poutine.. Although, i do love cheese fries.. I also used to dip them in Big Mac sauce and McChicken sauce .. God my arteries are quivering ..

yes, i haven't heard that term in a while. I used to live near that area, and poutine is some good stuff. The sauce is very filling, and it certainly is a meal.

I like dipping my fries in vinegar, hot sauce, ketchup, or whatever is available! I"m not too picky...I'll even eat them plain.

My sister-in-law makes french fries and then put grated cheese on them - with some secret spices mixed in. Delicious.

I am going to Canada in October, and will make sure that I try poutine - thanks for the heads up.

I never tasted Poutine I think it sounds gross. I just eat french fries with ketchup sometimes barbque sauce or a mix with both. I think they taste best at McDonalds unsalted. :D

IT HAS MORE TO DO WITH LOCATION. I LIKE TO PICK THEM UP WHEN I KNOW I AM GOING TO BE IN MY CAR FOR A WHILE AND EAT THEM AS I DRIVE. NO TOPPING JUST A LITTLE SALT. THEY DON'T TASTE AS GOOD TO ME ANYWHERE ELSE. KINDA LIKE PORK AN BEANS ARE BETTER ON A PICNIC. NEVER HAD POUTINE, DOESN'T SOUND LIKE SOMETHING I WANT TO RUN OUT AND TRY EITHER.
