The screen with the file freezes while the other screens work fine... then after 20 seconds hard disk starts processing and the file opens normally...i have disk defragmented, repaired registry, used anti-spywares, anti-malwares, anti-viruses, anything that can be thought of, virtually. no go... Is there anyway that this can be solved? or reformatting is the only solution?

How much memory have you, because I have the same problem so I am going to up the RAM from 256 to 758 by adding a 512RAM to the computer. I have done all you have done.

Had you installed anything just before these symptoms began to happen ? There could be a conflict with a program you installed.

Or are you low on RAM (or does your existing RAM work). Check if all your RAM is being reported as there/working.
