God is the beginning

2007-03-10 19:19:12 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 4

Too bad God Loves Athiests got modded down - it was one of the most intelligent answers I've seen on the topic.

Nobody said everything had a beginning - but we know from the laws of physics (entropy, thermodynamics etc.) that the universe is in a state of increasing disorder... it started from an explosion and it is petering out into a white noise of disorder... Not everything has to have a beginning, but our universe does. This we know because we have physically interacted with it...

Who is to say that God had to have a beginning? People who equate God (whom we have not experimented with - we don't know his "substance" or how he operates) with nature (what we have observed of the universe) are making a false comparison... just because the universe has been proven to have needed a cause, that says nothing about God's need for a cause...

Everything Has A Beginning If It Was Created!

The most concise definition of God in Islam is given in the four verses of Surah Ikhlas which is Chapter 112 of the Qur’an:

"Say: He is Allah,
The One and Only.
"Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.
"He begets not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him."
[Al-Qur’an 112:1-4]

The word ‘Assamad’ is difficult to translate. It means ‘absolute existence’, which can be attributed only to Allah (swt), all other existence being temporal or conditional. It also means that Allah (swt) is not dependant on any person or thing, but all persons and things are dependant on Him.

Everything has to have a beginning or else it is unthinkable, so people believe there has to be a creator (God), this answer satisfied many but also questions many, where did God came from? what is he doing from the beginningless up to the creation? it is still unthinkable, we only put the same question one step higher.

Many people will tell you god has always existed. It's funny how god doesn't have to follow the laws of physics. If god has always existed, why not cut the middle man and just say the universe has always existed. It's a much simpler explanation and you don't have to invent any contradicting creation myths for it.

nobody. he is the "uncaused cause."
St. Thomas Aquinas proved it.
In the Summa theologiae Aquinas records his famous five ways which seek to prove the existence of God from the facts of change, causation, contingency, variation and purpose. These cosmological and teleological arguments can be neatly expressed in syllogistic form as below:

Way 1
1. The world is in motion (motus).
2. All changes in the world are due to some prior cause.
3. There must be a prior cause for this entire sequence of changes, i.e. God.

Way 2
1. The world is a sequence of events.
2. Every event in the world has a cause.
3. There must be a cause for the entire sequence of events, i.e. God.

Way 3
1. The world might not have been.
2. Everything that exists in the world depends on some other thing for its existence.
3. The world itself must depend upon some other thing for its existence, i.e. God.

Way 4
1. There are degrees of perfection in the world.
2. Things are more perfect the closer they approach the maximum.
3. There is a maximum perfection, i.e. God.

Way 5
1. Each body has a natural tendency towards its goal.
2. All order requires a designer.
3. This end-directedness of natural bodies must have a designing force behind it. Therefore each natural body has a designer i.e. God.

Your question failed to include the statement "if there is a god"

the "uncaused cause" nonsense is circular mental masturbation and breaks the rules of logic. You can't say EVERYTHING has a cause to prove god's existence and then say god doesn't have a cause.

We made God! Woo!

But really, they're going to say that he's always been and there is no time for him. You should ask: What caused God's existence? or How did God come to be?

as a non-christian, it pisses me off to see people arguing that point. IF GOD EXISTS, HE IS OUTSIDE OF TIME, HAVING CREATED IT. That's kind of the whole point they make. you can argue much better than that against any ORGANIZED religion.

It is a foolishness to think, who created God.One thing is sure, we r created by God.If it is assumed that we r not created by Him, then can anyone in this world make another human being, another world, another universe of the same kind? For all those people, who deny the existence of God are the biggest fools. Do they not realise the creation of this whole world, in which the Earth is made a couch for us and the sky like a roof?Allah says:

60. Or, Who has created the heavens and the earth, and Who sends you down rain from the sky? Yea, with it We cause to grow well-planted orchards full of beauty of delight: it is not in your power to cause the growth of the trees in them. (Can there be another) god besides Allah. Nay, they are a people who swerve from justice.

61. Or, Who has made the earth firm to live in; made rivers in its midst; set thereon mountains immovable; and made a separating bar between the two bodies of flowing water? (can there be another) god besides Allah. Nay, most of them know not.

62. Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah. Little it is that ye heed!

63. Or, Who guides you through the depths of darkness on land and sea, and Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy? (Can there be another) god besides Allah.- High is Allah above what they associate with Him!

64. Or, Who originates creation, then repeats it, and who gives you sustenance from heaven and earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah. Say, "Bring forth your argument, if ye are telling the truth!"

65. Say: None in the heavens or on earth, except Allah, knows what is hidden: nor can they perceive when they shall be raised up (for Judgment).

There r numerous verses of this kind in Quran. One of the biggest proof for the existence of Allah lis in the verse:

19. He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together:

20. Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress:

21. Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

22. Out of them come Pearls and Coral: (Chapter 55:19-21)

Here it is mentioned about the Red Sea and the Mediterrian Sea which meet together, but remain separated due to the existence of surface tension. Here, barrier refers to surface tension as Science has proved that surface tension is like a barrier. This had been discovered recently, but what Quran had mentioned it 1400 years before. We all know, we couldn't even have imagined Scientific knowledge at that time.

The Quran speaks of Allah (the God) in the folowing verses:

1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;

2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

4. And there is none like unto Him.
