i sing and so i'v been told to limit my ice cream because it affects the quality of my voice. is this true or just a myth? if it is true is there a scientific reason?

Yes, but not like affect it forever. It just means that you should not drink or eat anything super cold. Oh and DO NOT drink milk. It is horrible for your voice. It makes my voice crack. Just drink room temperature water, juice. etc...

YES! - a milk product tends to coat your vocal chords
and thus really causes a problem

remmebr when I was a teen with a solo in choir - we had supper before we sand the concert - and I got a burger and a shake - AND choked in the middle of my solo

Yes it can. Icecream is a dairy product and the fat in dairy products lay down a layer in your throat and vocal cords. This is why, when you have a cold or throat infection, it is best to steer clear of dairy product.. Bacteria can grow on this layer, causing the increase of mucus in the throat leading to a thicker coating in the throat..

Unfortunately, it's true. You don't want to drink anything too hot or too cold, as it effects your throat over time. It's nothing you'd notice right away but down the line, you would.

eh, it's similar to dairy/milk. it produces phlegm.
