The soreness after exercise is usually due to the build up of lactic acid in the muscles. This buildup causes the soreness along with the stretching of the musculature. The more you exercise the more efficient your body gets at getting rid of the buildup and the soreness gradually disappears as you get fitter.

No, it's got nothing to do with a build up of lactic acid.
The build up of lactic acid is what you feel while you are training, when you are pushing so hard that the muscles feel like they're made of wood and hurt.
It is eliminated by the body within hours after a training session and CAN NOT CAUSE PAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY.

The soreness that occurs after exercise is called DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).
It is caused by micro tears in the muscle fibers and can last for a few days.

When excessive exercise depletes the muscles supply of oxygen the body pumps in lactic acid as a substitute. Unfortunately that lactic acid in the muscle can result in pain after wards, aka: Charley Horse. A massage will get the lactic acid out of the muscle and replace it with oxygen. Also taking a Vitamin C supplement before and after the exercise session will limit the amount of Charley Horse.

Muscles that are worked hard often by way of cellular respiration leave lactic acid as a by product. that makes you stiff and sore.

lactic acid - a by product of muscle energy - has to be carried away by the blood - and sometimes we load it up - faster than we can get rid of it!

you need to stretch before u exercise..it will just smoothen some area in ur body ,more room for motion..
