It depends really on the type of wood flooring. Laminate is cheapest, fairly durable, not repairable, and as with all wood products, you must make sure the subfloor is VERY smooth and level. Engineered hardwood is a little more expensive but looks much more authentic. It is hardwood strips adhered to cheaper wood(pine) and is also quite durable. Depending on the thickness of the hardwood strips, it can be refinished a few times. Then you have true hardwoods. Standard types can be found on good deals, but exotic types are very pricey.

Hey There!
I was just browsing around on Yahoo Answers and came across this question of yours.

I’m an IKEA Regional Manager and was informed of a private website at my last regional managers meeting that ended up to be a promotion we’re doing.
This website is giving away several hundred $1,000 IKEA Giftcards for just putting in your zipcode. It’s a marketing campaign they are doing to see what areas of the country people are interested in IKEA!
You can’t go wrong… Just put in your zipcode and get a $1,000 IKEA Giftcard.
You could do some SERIOUS DECORATING for your salon for the free $1,000 from this giveaway they are doing!
Heck, you could even get the FREE Giftcard and sell it on ebay and go buy stuff somewhere else with the money you just made!

for durability, you cant beat ceramic tile, drawbacks are you need 1 -1/8 " subfloor, can get pretty pricey, and difficult to install over old flooring such as vinyl.
laminates look nice, are easy to install, and can be installed over old flooring like vinyl or tile. drawbacks are dont hold up to water as well, once scratched are impossible to repair.
hardwood is very durable, can be refinished over and over, not too difficult to install and can be installed over old flooring. drawbacks are its very expensive, doesnt like water.
vinyl (like loose lay, not glued) is inexpensive, looks nice, easy to install, and can be installed over most types of old flooring. drawbacks are it can tear easier, may have to seam it, and if laid over old flooring pattern could emboss through.
self adhesive tiles can look nice and are inexpensive and easy to fix if damaged. drawbacks are they may lift up over time, have to prepare the subfloor carefully to get them to adhere properly.
if i had my druthers tho, it would be a toss up between ceramic tile and hardwood flooring. (ceramic is more work tho)
