It says in Genesis 6:5 "The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.
Verse 6 says "The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain."
He was going to wipe out all of mankind but for one man who walked with God...Noah! Our ancestor who saved us from extinction! The Bible says that the earth was filled with violence all of the time. God was justified in wiping out a violent and corrupt people. Makes one wonder what God is thinking now when He looks down and sees all of the violence and corruption going on today?
No, God does not make mistakes, He made us to have something called free will!

People messed up pretty fast, did not they...
God was sorry: In these words we sense the passion of the Lord. He had desired so much from humanity - ad was overwhelmingly disappointed.
But there is no other love that with a choice. So it was not really a mistake.

someones conception of god and we all know to err is to be human.we are the result of chance the right circumstances at the right time to begin the evolutionary process.and in an infinite universe this is not so unlikely a balance as the intelligent design people with their anthropic principle would have one believe. so enjoy your life it only happens once.
the mistake is believing in the idea of the imaginary god to be real...!

You should not take some of the stuff you read in Genesis literally. The "Garden of Eden" story is nothing more than a fairy tale. While it is a good story, there is nothing to back it up in facts. That is why it is important to study the Bible with a person who well versed in Theology.
So no, God did not make a mistake.

I can certainly understand your confusion. Here is the best way I can explain that verse.
God made us, expecting us to be obedient. But Adam and Eve were both disobedient in the Garden of Eden, and that disappointed God.
But, by no means are we God's mistake. It is His desire for us to follow Him "trust and obey."

That's where and why Jesus stepped in... Our sins made God grieve, just like your father here on earth would be upset and saddened if you constantly made the wrong choices and disobeyed. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. When it's time for your judgement He will be pleading your case...

No he just was pissed off that Adam and Eve were so stupid as to be led astray by a snake and caused Original Sin and stuff. Which led to Cain and Abel, which led to all kinds of murder and wars and general disobeying of god. That's why he decided to kill them all off with the flood! He knew he screwed up, and so he tried to get rid of the problem and start over.
The flood was a massive do-over. A mulligan.

We were not a mistake but a disappointment to God. To repent simply means to feel sorry that he made us. We had sinned and that broke his heart.

No we were not a mistake. When you make a mistake does it not make your parents grieve? Well we are Gods children and when we make mistakes he grieves but it does not mean he does not love us and that we were a mistake.
