You must contact master franchise of your area/region for a McDonald's outlet franchise. I am reading your question under Home > Dining Out > United States > New York City but under Indian Questions! two altogether different Master Franchise jurisdictions. However, if you are seeking for India, then Mr. Bakshi of Connaught Hotels, New Delhi is the Master Franchise for McDonald's for India - the right contact.

Contact the McDonald's organization for specific rules. The last time I heard the general rules, you had to have $1 million of your own, in cash. No loans or gifts allowed. Then they pick the location, you do not. You are guaranteed your money back in one year.

Above poster is wrong.

There is not a $1M minimum. The minimum is in fact 200K of unborrowed personal assets from them to consider you.

You can look at all the requirements, obtain an application, and look at FAQs here: http://www.mcdonalds.com/corp/franchise/franchisinghome.html
