The BEST spices are Lawry's taco seasoning ... you buy them in a pack ... brown the hamburger; add 2 packs of Lawry's and some water ... and whaaallla ... the BEST taco meat ever !!

Tacos are just rolled up tortillas with a filling. The variety of fillings are endless but the most common are made with ground beef, shredded beef or chicken, guacamole, chicken or beef fajitas. Better yet, read the sources listed and try some of the fillings, especially tinga, grilled beef steak, cochinita, special meat for tacos and tortas, cold beef salad.
Please do not be confused with American Southwestern stuff that other people try to pass off as authentic Mexican. There is no such thing as Monterrey Jack cheese in Mexican cooking, or sour cream. If you really want to get into Mexican cooking get a Diana Kennedy book I guarantee you will fall in love with it. Mexican cuisine is more than tacos and burritos, margaritas and refried beans. Take it from me.

Okay this is really simple. Just follow my directions and everything will be okay.

1. Place one pound of beef in a non-stick skillet. If you don't have one just add a tablespoon of oil.

2. Cook the beef until it is no longer red and is brown.

3. Add the spice packet to the meat.

4. Put one cup of water and a can of tomato juice. (Now this is my spin of taco sauce. I think it brings a great flavor and density to the dish. Believe, my picky husband AND mother-in-law loves it.)

5. Simmer the beef mixture(bring the temp down to medium-low), and cook until thick.

There is it simple. I hope you enjoy it!

Take chunk of inexpensive beef roast and cook it with a bit of red wine, and salsa jar mix in a slow cooker until it pulls apart. Heat oil in frying pan, cook tortilla on both sides, fold, fill with meat, lettuce, or cabbage, chopped tomato and onion, chopped cilantro a dollop of sour cream and you have a Baja California taco. People like to add their own hot sauce.

Take your hamburger and put it in a pan to brown it. (no need for butter or pam because the meat has enough fat in it)

next, fry it until completely brown ( no more pink is left)

drain the meat and add about 1/2 cup of water and 1 package of taco seasonings for every 2 pounds of meat (my favorite is tacobell brand)

put in taco shell with anything else you want in it and wala you have yourself a taco

Just enter "Taco Recipe" into your browser and you will get more recipes than you ever dreamed possible.
Most taco meat is either fried (hamburger) or boiled and pulled apart (roast).
