Well, if she swallowed it, you need to be on the lookout for it in her poop within the next day or so. If you don't see it (and that sounds gross, but it's absolutely necessary to check) you'll need to take her to the vet. On a larger dog, I wouldn't be quite as concerned but your dog is small and her intestines are small also; an amount of string that long could ball up in her intestines and possibly cause a blockage. If she starts exhibiting any symptoms though of pain or bleeding (from her rectum), nausea, lethargy (tired all the time), vomiting or straining to poop but nothing coming out, don't wait...get her to the vet right away. Good luck!

It will probably pass in her stool. But, if it does not in a few days, you need to take her to the vet. Sometimes string will cause problems in the intestines, and the vet will have to open the dog up to remove it. Make sure that it is not tangled on something in her mouth, like her tongue. Just watch her stool for a few days, and get her to the vet if you do not see her pass it. With string, the vet would probably need to do a barium x-ray to see if it is still there. Normally the string will pick up the barium, and it can be seen better on x-ray.

Like the above answer said, it should just come out when she has to go to the bathroom. At school we are told that if your dog eats something they shouldn't, feed it buttered bread. It will give them diarrhea and helps them pass it more easily and more quickly than a hard stool. So I would try that and give your dog a day or two to see if she passes it on her own and if she doesn't pass it within about 3-4 days, see your vet.

How long is the dog? He should have no trouble passing it. I would keep an eye on his stools though. I'll bet you thought there would be no strings attached when you got the dog. When I was a kid, we always had water balloon fights. My dog would always eat the popped balloons. She had the most colorful turds I have ever seen.

It is gross, but it all comes out in the end, I hope. My siamese ate a shoelace and it came out. If it doesn't you should check with a vet because it could get tangled and cause problems.

Pray it does not obstruct her intestines. Consult a vet immediately.
