My roommate just bought a 57" Sony XBR HDTV....got a great deal too.

Well, the picture is good but on the left and right edges, there's the rainbow edge is developing. The top and bottom are some what curved. I've heard that to fix this, the bulb needs to be replaced???

Is this the case? How much does a bulb cost? What's it take to replace it if so?

Thanks...

Rear projection TVs need to have the lamp replaced at about 1000-2000 hours of operation. Cost is about $300-$400.

If he just bought it it should still be under warranty.
If not the bulbs are anywhere from $150 up to about $600 and they aren't to bad to put in. If you have any doubts of doing it I would hire someone to do it for you, just in case something goes wrong.
Good luck!
