It sounds like you may be affected by S.A.D.
Seasonal Affective Disorder: Winter Depression
About 70-80% of those with SAD are women. The most common age of onset is in one's thirties, but cases of childhood SAD have been reported and successfully treated. For every individual with full blown SAD, there are many more with milder "Winter Blues." The incidence of SAD increases with increasing latitude up to a point, but does not continue increasing all the way to the poles. There seems to be interplay between an individual's innate vulnerability and her degree of light exposure. For instance, one person might feel fine all year in Maryland but develop SAD when she moves to Toronto. Another individual may be symptomatic in Baltimore, but have few symptoms in Miami. Some individuals who work long hours inside office buildings with few windows may experience symptoms all year round. Some very sensitive individuals may note changes in mood during long stretches of cloudy weather.

Actually, that behavior has been programmed into us. Our metabolisms vary according to environmental conditions. In spring, summer, and early fall, your metabolism is high, and in winter it is low. This behavior was selected for during the evolution of humans and most other higher animals. High metabolism = more energy to run around, feed yourself, store food. Low metabolism = running on fat reserves and stored food, energy saving. Our ancestors and animals didn't have central heating.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is natural, and everyone SHOULD feel lethargic during winter and active during summer. If you don't, THAT's when you actually need to be checked. But as long as it don't interfere a lot, you're okay.

You would think that with all the extra time we have just sitting in the house in cold weather, our houses would be much cleaner. But, when there is no sun, we don't have as much energy and aren't as motivated. Once Spring rolls around, and the sun is out, I'm like Wonder Woman! My house gets cleaned again and I have energy once more. It's normal. Look out the window at all the gray and trees with no leaves. It's depressing. And when we are depressed, we don't want to do much of anything. But let that sun and warm weather roll around and we become different people! It's ok to sleep more in the cold weather. Maybe we're like the animals that are smart and hibernate! I just know that my body wasn't made to be in cold weather. But, I guess if I was in warm weather all year round, I'd never get any rest at all! So yes, you are normal... at least when it comes to this question!

You might have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). If so, then you will need more sunlight. They make special lamps you can use. See your doctor.
