First of all, I'm a christian, but I'm not against war if its used to defend a country, I'm against when a country goes to attack another and kill others for no apperent reason.

Abortion, that is the question that everybody seems to have right, but nobody can agree with each other. I believe that there is never a place when u can just say, ITS RIGHT!, no, it all depends on circumstances. Its like saying:

A person that entered my room and killed my parents deserves the same punishment as one that killed the agressor so he wouldn't be harmed or even killed.

I believe death penalty is just wrong, our society can be so disgusting sometimes, its like we went back to the middle ages, when people were killed because the crowed wanted them to die, but of course, now its seen differently, I believe that as humans we have no right to take a life, if we can't give one, i also believe that life-long emprisonement without a chance to ever get out is worst, and cheeper, you would be surprised to know how much more it costs killing a person.

Now that you know what i think, lets answer you question.

War is ok, death penalty is ok...but why?, you should realize that the feelings that are behind this actions are the same: Vengeance.

People what others to pay for horrible crimes that hurted them, or make them feel fear, so therefore they want to take vengeance by killing others, by erasing that bothersome person and by that sleeping more lightly.

But abortion?....that is a different escenary. Most people don't consider a fetus as a living, breathing, feeling, human being, after the baby is born, or at least when you can actually see the baby before born you can actually feel like it's there, it moves, its alive!, it's sad, but as human beings we tend to care little about stuffs, its like when we see a person starving in television...do we just jump out and called offering money to help people?, or do we just change channels and think "how lucky I'm". We are like that, if it doesn't affect us, if we don't see it "it isn't there, its none of my business". I think its wrong, but I also think there is circumstances in which abortion could be...depending on perspective, acceptable:

Imagine you're 15, you're walking down the street after coming from your dance lesson, its getting dark, but your parents couldn't pick you up, so you decided to walk, you feel safe, you live in a good community, and you know most of the people since you were small. After turning a corner you feel someone pulls you in a dark place...after a couple of hours you wake up, you feel horrible has you touch your face and only see blood, all your muscles seem to hurt, like you took a horrible beating. You see your dress all riped, you start to realize what happened. You go home, you parents take you to the hospital, you have received some cuts, and you almost bleed to death. You feel pretty bad, so you decide to take a counceling program, after a couple of weeks you're starting to feel better, you boyfriend is actually started to talk to you again, and life seems to go on, suddenly you start feeling dizzy and you lost your period, so you go to take a pregnancy test, you're pregnant. You have no money, you are a freshman in highschool, who has been raped, beated, and now you're pregnant, what would you do?...don't you think that you should have the chance that for once! decide what you want to do, and have time to recover from all the things that affected you?

of course, also its true!, why should a baby died because of what happened, but its also true, that a baby that came to this world, without a father, with a 15-years-old mother and without enough love [if the kid is unwated] wouldn't have a great life, why should it cause pain to both, the mother and the kid?.

Well, that was one exemple, of course, there is also other situations in which the mother is resposible of her actions, and I believe that she should take responsability for her actions and don't abort, but again, that is a private decision, we can say that is wrong or right, but we don't have to live with the consequences of our actions, the person affected has.

Well, Hope I answered your question :)

This is a good question and one I enjoy answering. I am pro-life The death penalty is meant to punish an evil person as opposed to an innocent person such as a fetus. However the problem is that innocent people do die in the death penalty. Guns when used properly protect people, it is a proven fact that places with looser gun laws have lower crime rates. So actually owning a gun will decrease the chances of someone getting killed. As for war, I have been perplexed about this one recently myself. I can understand how war is sometimes necessary but not civilian casualties and not preemptive war. So that is my take on it.

Christianity is a religion about peace and forgiveness, loving your God and your fellow man, whether he loves your God or not. No, most don't think it's right to kill babies. Excuse us for believing that it's wrong to take away life. And even though I believe in pro-choice and am all for stem-cell research, that's neither here nor there.
No, Christian churches are NOT pro-war. Where'd you pull that from? War is not okay, war is about the worst thing on this earth, we don't promote it. It's wrong; it's killing and hurting other people, some of them innocent civilians like kids.
And a true Christian should not be pro-death penalty. "...Forgive us our trespasses, *as we forgive those who trespass against us.*"

And to the guy who said we hate Muslims; some of my closest friends are Muslim.

Well, I think it really depends on what flavor of Christians you're talking about. Quite a few denominations seem to insinuate (knowingly or unknowingly) that Christianity=America / America=Christianity... therefore whatever military action the government does, I'm not surprised that they would naturally support it (unless it was against Israel or Christians).

However, Catholics see Catholicism as universal, not a patriotic religion. That's why you'll see nuns in protests against the government's wrongdoings (nuns protesting the death penalty, protesting racism, protesting abortion, protesting war, etc). So while protestants blend patriotism with Christianity and supports the actions of the government with a religious fervor, Catholics, on the other hand, see Catholicism as universal- and therefore focus on universal issues and needs, unswayed from any form of nationalism.

But that's just my analyzation, not a definitive statement.

Executing a convicted murderer and aborting an inncoent baby are two very different things. That's not to say that I agree with the death penalty, but it's not a valid argument.
War is sometimes necessary, and in some cases it would save more lives to go to war, rather than just sitting twiddling you thumbs while people are being killed by a brutal dictator.

I don't know about pro-war / pro-death penalty - death is repulsive. Why is it that the un-born, not yet having the opportunity to chose anything, is sentenced to death?

Those little ones are just little folks. You'll say 'at conception?' and I'll say 'at 9 months?'.

Tell you what, I'll march in the next anti-war / anti-death penalty get together, if you do the same with abortion.

Abortion is perverse. War is perverse. The Death-Penalty can also be perverse - T Bundy eliminates 'always'

I am an atheist I am not pro war. But I recognize at times war is necessary so I am not pro antiwar either. The reason I am not pro death penalty is because the bastards get off too easy with lethal injection. If they would hang the bastards I would be pro death penalty. Rapist, child molesters, and murders deserve nothing less than death.

War is not OK. But let us not live in dream world. We live in an evil world. Had we not gone to war in WW2 there would be no blacks, hispanics, jews or anybody, for that matter, except the blond hair, blue eyed crowd because Hitler was kind of a social Darwinists who believed in the survival of the fittest and the white race was that superior race which should survive. Sometimes war is a necessary evil. Killing a baby is not a necessary evil. It is a convenience. If you are going to live an immoral life of hooking up all over the place out side of marraige, there are going to be babies born that are not wanted. To keep this immoral lifestyle going one must find a way to get rid of those babies. All the arguments about abortion to save the life of the mother or defects in the baby are a sideshow. Around 98% of all abortions are strickly for convenience. If you destroy an eagles egg in this country there can be severe consequences, but since Roe vs. Wade in 1973 we have killed 45 million babies.

It's because the Christians (most, but definitely not all) believe they have to be conservative to follow Christ. Many don't recognize that Christ was a liberal. He was against the death penalty. He let people make up their own minds, without advocating the government follow his rules.

Religion is a personal decision. The conservatives want everyone to play by their rules. Perhaps it would be easier for them if the laws of the land were the laws of their religion, but there are many other religions out there with their own morals.

Christ seems to have recognized the separatiojn of law and religion.

I am thinking that the idea of being pro-war and pro-death penalty will rapidly change, should the war arrive at their doorsteps and the death penalty hangs over the life of a loved one.

Seems to me its a "holier than thou" attitude if its other people's sons and daughters, wives and husbands or fathers and mothers that are getting killed or made to suffer in a war... its "OK".... as long as "ME and MINE" are not part of it

Just wait till the fire burns our own skin...THEN, we'll see what the attitude is. Its strange how the law makers that are pro-war NEVER seems to send their own sons or daughters to the battlefields of war isn't it?
