We have eaten the lovely koeksisters and found that the best were made by the Malay women in Cape Town. Can anyone offer a recipe please?

Koeksisters recipe

12 ounces flour
8 ounces granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon mixed spice
4 ounces butter
1/2 teaspoon yeast
Fat for frying

Mix the yeast with a little sugar, then add the mixed dry ingredients. Beat the eggs and add to the mixture. Knead all together and leave to stand for 1 hour. Roll out and cut into rectangles. Fry in deep fat. When cooked, dip into Syrup.

Syrup
1 1/2 pounds granulated sugar
1 pint water
Cinnamon

Boil together with a little cinnamon for taste.
