hello,
Its a very important question of the century
1.mega cities are generating a lot of scrap in the name of
latest technology , modern era, advanced etc. I accept the
advancement made but at what cost. And anything done
should be cross checked with these 4 things
1.is it environment friendly
2. is it generating a lot of waste which can never be disposed
3.is it safe in the longer run
4.does it have side effects
all these should be considered by every industry/individual

Yes. First of all, reduce the number of vehicles. Everybody should start bicycling to school, college and work.
Second, plant more trees wherever possible in the city and make the city green and clean.
Third, relocate all factories and industries outside the city limits.
Fourth, public transport in the form of electric trains will help reduce the pollution level. Also electric cars and trams must be used on the roads.
Fifth, children as well as adults must be made environmentally conscious and responsible.
Sixth, impose heavy fines on all those who damage the environment-e.g. by cutting down trees, using vehicles that pollute, industries that dispose of their toxic wastes into water bodies etc.
Seventh, use eco-friendly materials for building houses and keeping them cool without resorting to airconditioners, aircoolers etc.
Eighth, exploit solar energy to the maximum- both for domestic as well as industrial purposes.
Ninth, maintain as many water bodies (like tanks, lakes, ponds, etc.) as possible. Many more man-made water bodies should be created. Rain water harvesting must become a routine operation all over the city.
Tenth, there must be biogas units all over the city and these units can effectively recycle kitchen wastes as well.

Mega cities are a creation of bunch of egoistical greedy people who dont care two hoots if others live or die.

Plant more trees, stop felling of trees. Recycle as much as you can. Big trees have a huge cooling effect, one full grown neem tree is equivalent to ten 1 ton A/C's.

Not sure what your point is.

A person metabolizes about 10 megajoules of energy a day, so a million people generate... That all has to be dissipated, although some of it goes down the drain.

This is not even counting heatin/cooling transportation, lightnig, etc.
