Stay away from white flour, bread, potatoes once a week, and sugar. Eat it once a week too. No soda, it makes you more thirsty and is full of sodium which makes you hold on to fluids. No diet drinks of any kind, they are addictive and so is fast food. they make it that way...chemicals are added to make you crave them, after 3 mos. you won't want that food any more. You can have subway and things like salads and even grilled chicken but it is so expensive and you get so little from them in fast food places. Also eating out at the good restaurants ....calories and fat is greatly added to so it is SO good. Leave them alone. If you do go out , share the food and try to stick to broiled and ask for no butter and dressing on the side, use good judgment. If it's on a platter it's just too much food for a meal. Also use a smaller plate at home and only have seconds of veggies and salads with oil and vinegar or little dressing, not diet. Just have a little and add a little olive oil and vinegar. When you shop it is for the week and it is the start of your weight loss program. Do not buy junk. Buy fruit and veggies. Fresh if possible if not get frozen or canned in it's own juice. You can eat a whole can of pineapple in it's own juice...for a snack. Then broil, steam, grill or make boiled dinners with your meat. A portion is the size of your palm, no more. Then buy carrots and have with dressing for a snack, apples and p. butter, celery and p. butter. Saltines and a little plain fruit jelly or p. butter. Natural is best but use regular and just use less. You can have all the water you want, lemon makes it a diuretic and a PH balance for the body. Lemons as salad dressing is good too. Eat whole grain Breads and cereals. They are filling, have fiber and stay with you for a while. Wash, cut and divide into portions when you have a day off, cook soups and meals that you can divide and freeze for the week so you won't grab fast food. Use baggies or plastic containers. Eat oatmeal and a little br. sugar, bananas, brown rice with anything..stir Fry's and any veggies...cabbage is great for stir Fry's, coleslaw and cut up and put in the crock pot with hamburger that you fried and drained then add tomato sauce and either rice or as is with another veggie on the side. Just look at the money you'll save by cooking this way. Make spaghetti sauce and freeze it and use lean drained hamburger and it will give you several meals. The portion size and the snacking also is key because it keeps the blood sugar from falling and gorging to make it some up again. Have raisins, fruit roll ups even, and nuts around to pick up the blood sugar, don't get a candy bar. Also, don't deprive yourself of everything. Reward yourself and only when you deserve it. Then you enjoy it and you don't feel deprived. Take a good multivitamin and mineral supplement to make sure you get what you need. Then move, walk, park farther away from the store, take the stairs, in bad weather walk around the mall, no shopping. Or the local gym or high school in bad weather. Yoga is great for stretching and mental health too. I wish you luck.

There is no magic weight-loss pill, supplement, fad diet, or juice. The ONLY way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn. Brad Pitt didn’t get buff for Fight Club by drinking green tea, and you won’t either.
Hoodia, on the other hand, has been scientifically proven to reduce hunger. The problem with hoodia is that it is not regulated by the FDA, and studies have indicated that most products claiming to contain hoodia actually have little, if any, pure African hoodia. Those products that did contain hoodia were inconsistent from one capsule to the next. I have found two brands that seem to be consistent and effective, Relacore and PowerNutra.
Exercise doesn’t mean you have to join a gym or go to an aerobics class, although I would highly recommend it. To burn fat, you should exercise at a moderate pace for at least thirty minutes. A moderate pace is one in which your heart rate is elevated but you’re not so winded that you can’t carry on a normal conversation. That is the mode in which your body burns fat stores. High heart-rate cardio work tells your body to burn glycogen and store the fat for later—you don’t want that.
Walk for 30 minutes every day including weekends, Mondays, and Fridays. Do at least 30 minutes of weight training each week. Do 60 minutes of additional, higher intensity cardio each week. You don’t need additional equipment—infomercial products like the Ab Lounger, Sauna Belt, etc. are all worthless gimmicks so don’t waste your money.
Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. Don’t starve yourself during the day—many low-calorie diets fail because when you go hungry, your body switches to “famine mode” and stores fat for the coming drought. On the other hand, if you don't wake up ravenous, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed.
Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Your primary source of sustenance should be grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts and canned tuna (in water, not oil). No dairy (except low fat cottage cheese occasionally); no processed meats; no heavy sauces; no chips, cookies, sodas, breads, etc.
Another trick I’ve learned about reducing calories is to “clean the pipes”. You can do this by eating more raw vegetables and fresh fruit. You can also streamline the process with fiber supplements. I like Metamucil and Dr. Schulze Intestinal Formula.
Other than a daily multi-vitamin like Centrum Advanced Formula, the only other supplement recommended is an Omega-3 fish oil capsule like Carlson Laboratories Super Omega-3 Fish Oils. Omega-3 is a vital fatty acid that our bodies don’t produce. Omega-3 benefits are wide-ranging and proven by clinical studies. From heart health to depression treatment to pregnancy health, Omega-3 benefits are too good to ignore if you are interested in health.

I actually found when I became a vegetarian that I lost a lot of weight...I'm not saying that eating meat causes people to gain weight, b/c it can definately help some people lose weight...the problem is that a lot of meat people eat is mainly fattening (steaks, bacon, etc..)
Anyways, I think the change in my diet caused me to lose quite a bit of weight-I eat beans for my protein(low in fat, very high in fiber), a lot of fruits and vegetables, and I try to eat only whole grains, not refined carbohydrates...
A few foods I found to be very helpful were apples, cantaloupe (very low calories and a lot of water so it fills you up), soup, high fiber cereal, oatmeal, and diet coke (although not great for you i know :) )

I found that eating a diet of high-fiber whole grains, like 100% wheat bread, oatmeal, lots of fresh fruits and veggies and using a lot of olive and canola oils helped me in my weight loss. I also did aerobics for an hour, three times a week.
