Can't really comment about the army's new uniforms but the Marine Corps uniforms give a far superior camouflage.

I like the old camo best, from what i have seen in the past is that the old camo was the same for all branches(at least color and pattern). You should see the Lovely blue digital camo the Navy gets to wear. LOL

I still have a set of my first issue BDU's. When I joined we were still the olive drab army. I like both of these types over the new digital. But I think my opinion against them is because I was trained in sound discipline. Velcro in no way helps make for effective sound discipline.
A local kid in the National Guard was talking about how they were supposed to help defeat different ranges of vision. I had to point out that in both night vision and thermal vision images I have seen on tv, show troops as plain as day.
I will say that like the old olive drab and BDU uniforms the new camouflage is only good to a certain point. Knowledge of your environment along with the camouflage can help conceal a troop better. But that is only good to a certain distance from the adversary. To get closer it is motion and sound disciplines that closes the distance. The military can keep their ACU's, from my point of view. Because I can point out snag points caused by all the Velrco.

the unique greyish digital camo replaced into assume to be a customary, one length suits all camoflauge to decrease the type of diverse field camoflauges that are required. each and each trooper must be geared up with one digital camo somewhat than one for the desolate tract, one for city attempt against, one for mountains, forests and jungles. Now the nippiness ingredient is creaping in and a minimum of the army could pass lower back to having diverse terrain uniforms could could defeat the purpose of switching interior the 1st place.

Im currently in the army. the digital pattern works very well. the cut of the uniform is great. i only dislike a few things: the trousers dont have the waist take up tabs. i miss those. the drawstring waist makes a quick "drop trou" difficult. i like the zipper jacket, bit i hate the velcro patches. you brush past someone in a hallway, and exchange information! all of the rank and other bling needs to be sew-on. i do LOOOOOve the many pockets. and the angle of the thigh pocket. the lack of the color black makes it absorb much less sunlight, so it is cooler in the sun. the desert boots come in lots of different designs and styles.

really, the only thing i don't like is the color of the tshirt. the tan should be sage, like the new gloves and cw cap.

ACU pattern SUCKS! I noticed the 48th in Baghdad when they were the first deployed wearing it & I could spot someone wearing it further away than DCU's.

Stateside, I was amazed how it doesnt blend with any apparent Foliage, while running a Rifle Range I noticed the next range about 500M over the Snuffies wearing ACU stood out compared to those in BDU's.

CADPAT TW has been rated best tropical and Temperate Camouflage by NATO soldiers in a recent scientific study. The Canadian studies show there is a 40 percent less chance of being detected from 200 meters away with CADPAT Versus Olive Drab.

From the military wife's point of view, I LOVE THEM!!! The new ACU's are the best thing ever created!! I don't have to iron them and I don't have to shine any more boots!!!
I think they are more cost effective too. Before the ACU's came out, my husband had to be issued totally different uniforms before each deployment! Now we don't have to worry about it! He took the ones he already had and was wearing, and he didn't have to break in new boots!
