It means that when you are a believer with faith then the bad people( snakes) who talk trash (poison) about you will not be believed. Therefore the snakes and their poison can't harm you. Instead the snakes and their thrash will be know for what they really are, liars and lies. God will see to it! btw , the fact that those snakes can't read the bible must not have entered their mind. This is a classic example of what i mean when i say most of the time the bible teaches at many different levels. some levels are deeper than others.

That is something from the Southern Baptists. The Snake handlers believe that they are imune to poisonous snakes if they have faith. It is because of one of the passages in the bible. They handle the snakes as a proof of faith.

Yes they get bitten sometimes and end up in hospital. They think that means they must work more on having faith so they handle more snakes.
I wish I was making this up.

The real answer appears to be that they are showing their faith. Faith that, because they 'believe', dictates that they will not get bitten. Many DO get bitten, obvioulsy this will happen, but the idiots only claim that their faith was weak. Yeah, right!
The real real answer is that they are just further down the road of stupidity than regular silly people who believe in the myth as if it were actual.

Read Mark 16: 17-18......although it doesn't make logical sense.....it is a step of faith and is true, that you will not be harmed. God doesn't lie and can protect you in any situation. If he can create the universe.....than protecting you from a snakebite is simplistic.
