rhyme: identity in sound of some part, esp. the end, of words or lines of verse.

There's a difference between sounding alike and actually rhyming. So door hinge and orange just sound alike, they don't rhyme. Silver and Sliver do not sound alike, nor do they rhyme. Just say them out loud. Orange and strange... well, try to write a rhyming poem with them, the sounds don't really work for rhyming. They say no english words whyme with them because no legitimate english word fits the charactersitics stated above.

As for purple...

Hirple is a British word, which means "to walk lamely or hobble".
Curple is a word out of Scotland, which refers to the hindquarters of a horse.

For silver there is CHILVER which is a female lamb.

Most probably because the English board doesn't think it rhymes. Oh yea and there are another few words to add. purple rhymes with turtle and door hinge rhymes with orange. Oh and those words sound VERY VERY close, I guess but it doesn't rhyme to some ppl.
