In today's age, anyone who is not a Muslim is not truly a monotheist, except for maybe a few.

Anyone who believes Jesus is god, or that God is "three yet one", is a polytheist. Anyone who believes that God literally begot a "son" or children is a polytheist.

Anyone who believes that their rabbis or priests have the right to legislate or can "vote" on what becomes God's law is in reality a polytheist.

"They have no Wali (Helper, Disposer of affairs, Protector, etc.) other than Him, and He makes none to share in His Decision and His Rule." [Quran 18:26]

Most of the world accepts the pagan concept of democracy which states that the rule should be for the people, or for people, which is in reality polytheism.

The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. [12:40]

To every polytheist i would simply say:

"Are many different lords better or Allah, the One, the Irresistible?
"You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged), you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not. [Qur'an 12:39-40]

Or I would say what the prophet Abraham said to his people, as God revealed in the Qur'an:

"He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping,
"You and your ancient fathers?
"Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'all that exists,
"Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me" [Quran 26:75-78]

Simply saying "I believe there One God or Creator" means nothing if you do not worship Him alone, and only accept Him as your diety and legislator.

Polytheists personify individual groups of divine attributes. What they worship as many Gods, I worship as one God. In all probability, we are both limiting the supreme Deity - but we are also both worshiping the same sumpreme Deity.

I'd say rather than believing in yourself you are believing in the possibility of either multiple you's or you are putting your trust and faith in other people other than yourself. This is not bad, but keep in mind, putting trust in someone else requires FAITH.
