Being neat is okay. I think your mother is just training you, and there is nothing wrong with this. Appreciate your mother, this may be the key to your problem. Breathe slowly and think, if you don't have a mother such as the one you have now, what will you be like. Hope this helps.

Hi, you describe your mom as a neat freak...well you can't stop her from being a neat freak--it is an acquired behavior, and it is her way of living--sorry it doesn't fit your mold. Why does it bother you? Are you expected to help do your share of keeping a neat house--is that it??? You don't like a little work?? Is she a person that has an issue with control and neatness is the only thing she CAN control?? Like people who wash a lot or exercize all the time??? Does she have anyother problems that lead her to resorting to neatness as a compulsion??? If she does, it is too bad, but you can't do anything about it. You can be tolerant, do your share, smile and just try to be nice--it would make the whole issue a lot easier. Compulsive behavior is something that just doesn't stop--or whatever--you won't die from it so take a break and just be nice.

Convince her to have more kids! Maybe the more kids she has the less time she will have to be so neat all the time. Of course if she has O.C.D. at all, then that would be difficult no matter how many kids she has. I guess you should just enjoy the fact that you don't have a mother who never cleans.

Just ignore her habit ! Do what you like and in the way you like !! Let her do what she wants, you do what you want. When you end up into a disagreeable and sour converstion, quit. When you come back, buy something which you and she like to eat or watch together. It can be a nice pc of cake or a nice DVD movie which you both can enjoy together After all, she is your mom...and she may not be so bad after all !! (unless she is a stepmother!)

I'll bet your mom is wondering how she can get you to be neater. To begin with, you can't really change anyone. She can't change you, you can't change her. But she can give you so much grief that you change to keep her off your back. While you're living at home, it's usually best to follow the home rules. When you pay your own housing costs, make your own rules.
