Wow, you have a lot on your plate... I hope he's got the idiopathic type, because the prognosis is so much better. Was the neurologist able to pinpoint the underlying cause - because most often that's what determines what type of cognitive of physical impairment will result. Also, if it was caused before, during, or after birth. Good luck! Hope you and your husband just stay strong and help your little one get through all of this! Our scariest moment was the day our son was born - I was in labour all day, then the fetal heartrate dropped dangerously low - and I had to have an emergency c-section because the cord was wrapped twice around his neck - he was fine, though!

Use lavander to help rest, I have a eye pillow that i spray oil on, and then I use lavander bed linen spray.

If you are sleepless in bed for 10 minutes, get up and do something mindless for 15 minutes then try bed again. I write in a jurnal, that helps get my thoughts out of the way. Just laying in bed for hours does not help.

Carefull about sleep pills, they often leave people groggy, dependant, moody, and that wont help.

Try a relaxation session, or a beginners yoga, sure your schedule may be hectic, but one hour can clear your head and make study time more efficient.

just wanted to let you know of a miracle pill that puts you to sleep, available over the counter, is actually very very beneficial for your health, and is only 3 bucks!! I had trouble falling asleep for years. I would lay in bed, and think and think and think for hours before I could fall asleep. It was literally driving me crazy!! I had tried every over the counter sleeping pill on the market and nothing helped. I turned to Nyquil and that did the trick. I had been drinking Nyquil almost every night to go to sleep until I stumbled upon this miracle sanity saving nutritional supplement named MELATONIN. And you can buy it at any GNC health food store. I advocate GNC because the melatonin they use goes through 85 different quality checks before its bottled. Buy the sublingual melatonin. The kind that dissolves underneath your tongue tastes like cherries and it’s good for you!! I was shocked at the effectiveness in putting me to sleep. If you have any questions before you buy it the sales associate at GNC should be able to answer any questions you have. It comes in 1 mg, I take 2 right before bed. The only side effects are weird dreams for the first two nights if any at all. You must take the sublingual kind from GNC otherwise it might not work because of quality and potency, should be taken at regular bedtimes in the evening.
God Bless
P.S. after you try it and it works don’t forget to tell others about it. You could be saving someone else’s Sanity

try doing some brisk walking or even better jogging if your up for it in the mornings and preferably some light weights in evenings but don't overdo it in the evenings as it could leave u wired.

As for input try camomile tea. For some hot milk works, but many could be lactose intolerant.

I know this sounds wierd but meditation or focusing on your breathing while lying down has a sedating effect on me.

Basically need to juggle between cramming in info and exerting yourself physically

Try drinking some Chamomile or Sleepytime tea
Try EFT - http://www.emofree.com/ (download the free manual and practice it - it works for everything and it's very simple)
Ask your doc for a prescription for Tryptophan (if you can't get it over the counter). It's all natural (found in milk, turkey, etc.) and it helps with relaxation and sleep.

Good luck with your exams :)

I went through the same thing when I was in college. Try to relax & watch a funny movie before bed. You'll go to sleep happy & wake up well-rested. It worked for me.
