Microsoft Word is not free - not nohow - not no way.
If you need free, you can try open office which is recommended by users here. It is free and supposed to be compatible with MS Office.

Open Office is a free Offfice Suite which has proven to be an alternatvie to Microsoft Office except for one thing that I mentioned, it's FREE. There are many other sites dedicated to Open Office and even those that offer Open Office Tutorials.
OpenOffice.org is a collection of different applications that work together closely to provide the features expected from a modern office suite. Many of the components are designed to mirror those available in Microsoft Office. The components available include:
Writer — a word processor similar in look and feel to Microsoft Word and offering a comparable range of functions and tools. It also includes the ability to export Portable Document Format (PDF) files with no additional software, and can also function as a WYSIWYG editor for creating and editing web pages. One important difference between Writer and Microsoft Word is that in Writer, many functions and number formats from Calc (below) are available in Writer's tables. Another difference is that in Writer, automatic save is off by default.
Much more information at their site.

You might want to consider an alternative. Even stealing MS Word supports its popularity, and even if you're not giving Microsoft money by using their software you're supporting demand for their software.
My preferred alternative of Office is OpenOffice from http://www.openoffice.org. Available for Windows, MacOS, Linux, and absolutely free. It has a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation program, drawing program and database. All of them will read and write MS Office file formats. I've used it as a replacement for years.
If you're looking for other options, there's another one called StarOffice put out by Sun Microsystems. Then there's Web-based replacements: Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Ajaxwrite, and Thinkfree.
If you really want to stick it to Microsoft, think about switching. MacOS or Windows, it doesn't really matter. I'm not going to preach either one, but whining about Microsoft is completely pointless and stealing their software only encourages them to clamp down on pirates. If you really want Microsoft to change stop using their stuff. It's the only thing they'll understand.

You lost all your files,as in hard drive erased or went bad?
If you were the legal owner of MS WOrd, then call the company andlet them know you want to register program on new computer hard drive.
However, if you never had a legal copyof it,then youre trying to infringe on copyright protection.
Dont think youll get that help here.
But the bottom line would be you would need someone with the full version to let you download and use their reistration key to activate it.
Thats the process.

Rather than try to get a free copy of Word, try the free "Open Office" program, available at the below link.

You can't. Office and Windows are Microsoft's only two sources of revenue. They don't give away either.
