Forget them, if you really like your animals and want to treat them as such, it's ok. Sometimes animals are more trustworthy than some of the people I know.

Cats tolerate us, or as a neighbor put it: "Dogs have owners, cats have staff." Dogs AND horses are like a extension of the family, you don't turn your back on them, give them away or have them put down or sent for dog chow because you don't want to be bothered with them anymore. My brother bought a house from a man whose parents dog still lived there, and when asked said it would be ok to leave the parent's dog as they wanted one anyways. But the seller had the dog put to sleep so he could sell the chain link dog kennel, we were all kind of horrified at what kind of creep he was. You treat a dog well and you have a friend, companion and guardian for the rest of it's life, same for a horse, mistreat them and you have an enemy what will wait for that opportune moment to payback. I knew a man who hated his wife's horses who left his new 5th wheel crew cab truck in the pasture a few hours, came back and called the police to report vandalism, the cops just about died laughing because they could see the horseshoe marks dented into it, it smelled like him, and the horses had let him know what they think of him. dogs and horses often show better judgement than people, that's the sad fact. A cat would live with Satan (or Dr. Evil) as long as it got what it wanted.

Definitely! My pets have always been just like family to me. When I was little I would joke about my dogs and cats being my sisters or brothers. Now that Im older I say that my dog is my daughter and my son's sister, lol. Who cares what other people think? Cats and dogs are living creatures just like us, they have personalities and feelings and deserve to be treated and thought of as family members. Anyone who thinks otherwise in weird, not you!

I have had numerous pets from rabbits to cats to dogs. Every single pet from past to present to future, IS family to me. I don't come across too many people who don't feel the same way as you and I do. And for those people who do say it's weird, then they haven't experienced the love and strong bond between a beloved pet and themselves. And I for one feel truly sorry for them.

well you are right, actually they are better friends that allot of people you will ever meet. think about it, you can tell them a secret and know they will never tell anyone, they are always there when you need them, they are cute and cuddly, and they don't judge you like your friends are doing. i have had allot of pets and always thought of them as my friends and family. after you spend allot of time together you really create a bond like family. i had one dog that i swore knew what i was saying, you could tell him to do anything and he would immediately do it, and i mean anything. go to bed, be good, get the kitties, share, find your toy, go to the bedroom, he knew it all, and the weirdest thing he loved fruit and vegetables, especially grapes. so no i think you are right, keep thinking of them like family and friends, because they will be there even after your friends that are saying you are weird are gone and no longer your friends. thanks for the awesome question, it was nice to reminisce.

yah you should deffentaly consider your cat's and dogs like your family and friend because once you get them it's like it's a new child in your family!!! And they also do the same exact things as humans except talk of course lol!!!! They eat, sleep, use the potty, play so much in common with a human :-)

Yes, I think of my 2 cats as part of my family. I recently lost my husband and now my cats are even more precious to me. Cats are very loving animals when they are treated good and sometimes I think mine understand me when I talk to them.

You should think that way. I had a cat Simon my parents adopted and I cried and acted like he was my brother cause he was, my parents abopted him they signed an adoption form. Not putting it to real life, but in stewart little they just treated him like a human, even though he wears clothes and talks and walks he's still a rat. Anyways I made my cat brother Simon get married to a cat named bootsy so shes my sister-in-law and she had 3 sons and 1 dauther I wonder what happened to them all, but we kept one named blackie and he's my nephew. And in response to your question, No, It Isn't Weird, and you ShOuLd think that way. :P

My dogs are my friends. They are more loyal than any human friend I have ever had. They are always happy to see me. They are protective of me and love to just hang out around the house with me.

Ask those people if they ever heard the saying "a dog is a man's best friend". That saying can apply to us girls too. lol Kitties are good friends also, not just dogs.
