your clothes keep the moisture next to your skin constant. When you change , the moisture level changes and your nerves are alerted. Your bedding may have some effect. maybe when you slow down like sleeping, the excess sugar comes out in your sweat. I know if I eat too many sweeties before bed, I wake in the middle of the night and have to wash my neck because of the excess sugar being expelled in my sweat burns the skin.

Sounds like scabies, which are like "bed bugs" you don't have to be in bed for it to itch, go to the doctor to get some cream to kill the bugs or mites, your boyfriend might start itching soon. I've actually had them, they are very contagious and a friend came over and he had them, and the whole house got them. Clean all of your bedding with very hot water, your clothes, everything after you are treated. Also, use rid-x spray on your couch, and stuff you can't wash or they'll just come back. Look on the internet for Scabies. Good Luck!

All of the creams and stuff you are using may be causing a bigger problem. When you get out of the shower you need to rub lotion all over your body. Curel works good. If your skin doesn't have enough moisture you may be compounding the problem.

It is worse at night because that is all you can concentrate on in the dark (when you are alone at least).
