fecal matter is not "fatal" persay, but can be if it gets into the body in any other way (such as open wound) besides the mouth.

On the other hand, what can be fatal is a pregnant women coming in contact with cat poop. Cats carry toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease which if transmitted to an unborn fetus can affect all organs, including the brain, causing serious infection and potential death to the unborn baby.

Ugh, well yuck, but probably not fatal (probably). Fecal material is full of bacteria, so it's certainly not good for you (though there are actually times when it's used medicinally as an enema, but this is rare and only for one disease that I can think of) though if your immune system is healthy you should probably be able to deal with the bacteria that's in any feces that you eat (probably, though it's certainly a big risk for getting ill). The real problem would be if feces or raw sewage came in contact with an open would or another route into the blood, which could cause a very serious and potentially fatal sepsis.
