They don't consider the Catholic "religion" to be a Christian religion because of various discrepancies between what the Bible teaches and what the Vatican claims. Most Protestants know that there are born again Christians who are members of the church in Rome. But Catholicism teaches things that don't agree with reformed Christian doctrine.
