Go to your county courthouse in the county you reside in, take your drivers license, birth certificate or some form of state issued ID. Both partners have to go and if you've been married before you must take along your last set of divorce papers. The fee here where I live is $51.00 for the actual license and I believe a $5.00 filing fee. I know because I called the Probate Court this morning about this very thing.

In Texas you can go to any county courthouse in the state to get a marriage license to get married in any county. My wife (Marijane K, above) and I got ours in Montgomery County (her sister worked there, which was neat and it was a treat) but were married in Harris County. So, we could have gotten married in Deaf Smith County if we wanted.

Go to your local county courthouse to County Clerk's office. Take your birth certificate and driver's license with you. It probably depends of the rules of your area, but we were able to take ours with us that day. You generally have 30 days to use it from the date of issuance. I think costs can vary by state. Ours was $35.

go to the nearest courthouse, depending on the laws in your state, you will wait a couple days and then go pick it up. In my state you and your fiance need to go to gether to fill out the aplication. You need a form of id, and I believe a birth certificate and social security card. You wait 3 days and then can pick it up. also, you have 30 days from the day you get your marriage licence till it expires.

County Clerks office, in your local court house.
Call to make sure what you need, but mine needed proof of who you are & proof of your social security number, plus proof that one of us lived in the county we were applying in. We each took our social security cards, drivers license & our lease. You could also use a birth certificate as an ID in most places & a utility bill as proof of address.
