i had running nose last week and i took those kirkland signature's medicines for cold/running nose for 2 days. After that, i got worse. really worse. my nose was completely blocked, up to the point that i had to breathe by my mouth sleeping. i found myself waking up in the middle of the night with my mouth wide open n my tongue dried up like a dessert. i stopped taking the medicine n actually got better.
what kinda company is kirkland signature? i know costco sells a lot of their stuff. shouldnt they be messing around wit medication if they dont know how to? cuz it seems to me that they specialize in toilet paper. anyways, this is lame. anyone has any feedback from the company? ima avoid their products from now on.

Kirkland is Costco's own label. They get their medications from somebody else. It will vary by medicine, but in general the source is going to be the same place that any supermarket or drugstore would get their store brand.

And given the scrutiny these drugs get because of how many people use them, you can be confident that the drug(s) in them is/are exactly as advertised. Medications like this are highly regulated, as opposed to, say, herbal remedies.

Your experience had nothing to do with the brand of medicine. You could have taken any brand, it would have been the same. Who knows, maybe if you hadn't take anything it would have been even worse! Sometimes colds are like that.

Fortunately, we all get over colds after a few days, just as you did. The fact that it happened when you stopped taking the medicine was coincidence: it was going to happen anyway.

But man, that cottonmouth thing in the middle of the night sucks.

(Decongestants and the like do not help you get better, nor do they make you stay sick longer. They just alleviate the sysmptoms some.)

And FWIW, I started using zicam, not the nose gel stuff that can make you lose your sense of smell, I use the dissolving tablets: that stuff really works for me. It is the only clinically proven medicine to reduce the duration of a cold, but I'm still surprised at how well its worked for me.

Well...Kirkland's Signature is the store brand for Costco. I am guessing that you took a pill that is part pseudoephedrine? Or perhaps diphenhydramine? For a runny nose that is that bad you may want to try some saline nasal spray, which is just basically salt water, but follow these steps to rinse out the blockage: get a box of tissue and the bottle of saline nasal spray, take the saline nasal spray and gently spray 2-3 sprays into the nostril. Blow your nose. This is basically a rinse and repeat type thing until your nose feels better. If that doesn't help at all I suggest getting a prescription for some Atrovent nasal spray (don't screw around with the steroid nasal sprays because they aren't as quick). I wouldn't avoid Kirkland Signature medications from now on like you said though because you just have to take what is appropriate for your symptoms. Medicines, even over-the-counter ones, are held to certain standards by law. Hope you feel better.
