Hi Guys. If I have a chance to go skiing at Lake Loiuse or FERNIE BC, which would be the preferred choice?? I am not really into the crowds in Banff..but the best skiing is the ultimate goal. I HATE groomed trails. I like lots of powder and glades and that type of thing.

Thanks in advance

I live in Alberta but I never go skiing.
I have heard from people that Fernie is the place to go.

Wow, tough choice. But being an avid skier for the last 25 years and visiting both these resorts regularly, I would have to say that Lake Louise is a better choice. Even though you may find a few more people, the terrain and choice of runs is far greater. Dont get me wrong, Fernie is a nice place too, but Louise is World Class! You may not find a whole lot of powder (depending on the weather) but overall Louise scores a higher rating than Fernie.

You should let us know how your trip goes!

This time of year I would head out to Fernie, Louise starts to melt pretty bad at this time of a year and you can even have rain for the day because they are at a lower elevation. Trust me on this one I have been going to the mountains riding for over 15 years and this is from experience!!

Gday - ive just returned from Alberta and BC, and I really think if you want to have more room, your better off going to Fernie, but Lake Louise is pretty spectacular! Have a great time when you get there!

Tough call. They are both pretty good hills. I think maybe Fernie, but you would be happy at either.
