I have bipolar disorder, and for various reasons, some out of my control and some completely my fault, I have only now begun dating at the age of 25. I really want to hear from people who are in love with mentally ill people:
Why? Is it worth it? Are they a burden?
I sometimes feel like if I really love someone, I should stay the heck away from her. Please help, if you can.

I have asked my father many times if I'm a burdon. I have BiPolar and fuctioning generally and without meds. He tells me that it doesn't matter. You do what you do because you love the person. I am 26 and trying to date but like you I'm afraid of what people will think about me or if they will run. The person that will be right for you will see you as you not as a BiPolar person.

I know you wanted to hear from people who love the mental ill but I am the mental ill and I think I am definitely worth loving. My husband and I have some problems because of my illness but as long as I take my medication and sometimes take to a therapist things workout fine. We have every few problems due to my mental illness. So all ways remember your worth loving no matter what or who it is.

Well regardless of what kind of mental illness it is ranging from depression to schizophrenia as long as the person is on their meds, and can control themselves then it is okay but if they are out of control, and not on meds then you leave them. It also depends on how much you love the person if you love them enough to stick by them in their darkest hour then it is worth it. Now that is true love.

If you are really in love, then anything is worth it.
You take the good with the bad.
And being mentally ill does not make you a bad person.
You are worthy of being loved.
As long as you give all of your love and attention to a relationship, that's what is worth it.

I had a schizo Grandmother, yet she took her meds and that i by no skill quite knew she had this sickness. i presumed a number of her habit replaced right into somewhat ordinary, yet no longer something too loopy. My uncle is mentally retarded. He has the mentality of a 12 twelve months previous, yet previous that he would not do something loopy. I continually theory-approximately him like an extremely vast youngster, regardless of the indisputable fact that he had person manners. i do no longer think of i myself knew all people else with what may well be viewed extreme psychological issues. yet there are a ton of addicts in my kinfolk on the two factors. i replaced into conscious that some all people is "loopy" and spot or hear issues that are no longer there, yet i do no longer think of I ever equated that to faith. i replaced into surrounded by way of believers. From abode, to college, to acquaintances... wide-unfold. It replaced into like "expertise" that god replaced into genuine, no longer a perception. i recognize now that it replaced right into a perception, yet while that's such an critical portion of your existence, you think of of it as actuality, no longer a warped perception like the fable of the mentally sick.

The most important thing for you to remember is to "TAKE YOUR MEDICATION."
As long as you do that, you will not be a burden on anyone.
Please do not stop your medication just because you are feeling better.
You will need medication the rest of your life so please accept it. You will make life much easier for those who love you if you just TAKE YOUR MEDS!
