I'm not sure of any scientific research or anything, but I think that you are if anything less likely to smoke. Well, let me start over....there's two ways this could go:

1. If you don't mind that your parents smoke and you hardly notice it anymore, I'd say you may smoke when you're older.

2. If you don't like your parents smoking and you notice it a lot, I'd say you will most likely not smoke when you're older

Then again, even if you don't mind it, you may not smoke...so you're just as likely to smoke as anyone else, you just know the effects of smoking more than someone who's parents didn't smoke.

Wow...I'm not helpful at all, sorry you wasted your time and read this :)

Well, I would say that the answer really depends on you - my dad used to smoke when I was little, but I'm an anti-smoker myself. Your parents bad habits aren't likely to rub off onto you because they were never taught as good habits, so don't worry. If you know that smoking is bad for you, and you are conscious of the right thing to do, you don't have to worry about their smoking influencing your decision to(or not to) smoke.

Each person makes up his or her own mind about smoking, regardless of whether both parents smoked or not. You already know firsthand how unattractive and smelly smoking is, and how expensive cigarettes are. Many parents who smoke don't want their children to be smokers either. If you don't want to be a smoker, then you won't be--it's as simple as that. Don't start and you'll never have to try to quit later in life (and ask your parents how difficult that is). Decide for yourself and don't let friends influence you!

Statistics show that children who grow up with smoking parents are twice as likely to become smokers. But it's up to you if you smoke or not. I suggest you dont because it sucks. Im only 22 and i have been sm0oking for 10 years already. Trust me its just not a good idea.

Actually many people who live around smokers grow up to hate the stuff, besides smoking is more of a choice not a trait that can be passed from one member of a family to another.

It is not hereditary. It could make you want to NEVER be around smoke agian. Or it could make you start smoking at an early age. It depends on your point of veiw on the subject. Just remember smoking KILLS. Most people are dying from 2nd hand smoke alone!!!!

Nah.. ultimately you are the one who decides whether or not you want to become a smoker... its not something that is passed on by genes or anything. Just a little FYI - its gross, and more and more people are NOT starting.. its NOT easy to quit and it really isnt all that convienent anymore.. so if you never start you will never have to think about it.

NO! Cos you can be the difference. It is you who chooses and others who influences. If you know it is wrong, you should not say okay. Be the person of your words. Be the difference you want to see in the world, noone is better qualified. Smoking can kill. Your parents need to know that too. SAY NO TO DRUGS.

just because ur parents smoke doesnt mean u have to. smoking is not a heredity thing. smoking is a persons choice. if u dont want to smoke u dont have to (i reccomend this decision.) but sometimes kids who look up to their parents want to do what the parent does even if they know its bad. in ur situation i would just ignore the smoking ur parents do so u dont get a cancer or disease, because smoking is very harmful.
