Not referring to Jesus, just the rest of the useless fools.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

I was not referring to Jews, not at all - only a brainless moron would say such a thing about any race of people, and I may be many things but I am definitely not racist is any way shape or form.

As a Christian I would say that Herod had a plan that he thought was good by the measure of his own estimation and understanding of the times in which he lived. We live by what we know, a constantly harrowing existence that historians remind us successive generations later as the state of not knowing.
Did Judas Iscariot have a good plan? Was his political opportunism or sense of social duty conducted in the manner of knowing what he was about?
Your question is quite fascinating. You may not have planned it this way but it profoundly touches on the pathos and tragedy of individuals who very often react to their circumstances from an entirely closetted perspective of their own importance in the world. People in power often have a very inflated view of themselves and the way they react to their immediate circumstance, with varying degrees of insecurity and paranoia, which unleashes rash, pathological, intemperate, instinctive impulses to self assert, is to act brashly without wisdom. To suggest that Herod had a plan, like one plans a strategy to win staging the Olympics for example, is perhaps over stating the case for arguing his role in history was any more significant than the court jester who entertained him and his guests. Pathos is attributed to players who strut upon the stage with great pomp and circumstance and then are 'contextualised' later by historians within a much larger drama whose main characters exhibit a greater knowledge of what they are about than what the minor character had estimated at the time. In this, both Judas and Herod, were tragedians on pages of history, not allegorical but fleshing out a minor role in a bigger more panaramic picture of truths that have rumbled on through the centuries ever since. We rarely quote from the words of Herod these days as some kind of metanarrative of great import, such was his apathetic role.
As to whether his plan was good. Actually, and very perversely, it turned out to be very good indeed, because it drew attention to the fact that he took very seriously the rumour about the birth of a king and this heightened people's expectations that a mysterious saviour was on the scene, to rescue them from the Romans. It created the hysteria and expectation that contributed much to the significance of the event and thereby he, unwittingly perhaps, gave Jesus a greater status by doing what he did. Herod was Heaven's public relations man on the ground! (Of course, I would say that wouldn't I, as a person who follows Christ!)
Your question is very interesting. It introduces us to certain identifiable paradoxes in history. I hope you find the answer.

Hmmm...I'd refrain from your racial slurs against the Jewish people. Not only is that forbidden in this forum, but they are the apple of God's Eye and His chosen people whether you agree, or disagree. By the way, Herod's plan was a useless one. God has preserved that nation and that nationality as He said He would. PEACE!!!
