Well most people likes a face to face "i'm Sorry". But if you can not do it this way then think about what to say and then just call. Don't use the following words: you, your, I told you so. Just say i'm sorry I did not mean to hurt you and is there anyway we can fix this.

If you are a real friend, you apologize in person. Anyone can fake sincerity over the phone. If you are truly sorry for what you did, your friend will be able to see it. If you can't apologize in person , then calling will probably have to do. Hopefully your friend will take your phone call. If that doesn't work, then send her/him a letter saying how sorry you are for what you did and that you hope that you can be forgiven and your friendship saved. After you apologize, the ball is in their court.

don't, do it in person. give them some time to heal and approach them later about apologizing.
