My last relationship lasted 3 years. After we broke up we didn't talk or see each other for 2 months then we started talking again and became really good friends. We talk a couple of times a week now and it's not awkward at all. I think it's crazy if you can't be friends with someone after a break up...it's like saying your whole relationship meant nothing. I really loved him and he really loved me, things just didn't work out. But I'm glad he's still in my life.

My believe is that if you guys broke up then why exactly be friends? I do agree with an answer, if you guys are friends after the fact then is one of you more interested in more than just friendship, at the end one of you or both are going to end up been more hurt, it did happen to me with my ex, I tried to be friends with him and I saw how much I was hurting him, so I stay away, just because I care about him and hurt me seen him hurt. So I would not recomend that. Good luck!!

I honestly believe that it is hard to be just friends with someone that you have dated. You are the one that broke off the relationship, not him. So of course he is going to hope that you will change your mind and want to get back together with him. You will have problems dating other guys if you are still friends with an ex-boyfriend. Just because you want to be civil to him and be a mature adult about things, it doesn't mean you have to be pals.

Yes... that whole "we can be friends" thing is a crock of sh i t... guys/girls can rarely be friends without one party being interested in romance and it also causes problems if one or both parties get married and try to keep friends of the opposite sex.

you should brake up with your boyfriend by adding this phrase 'at least we can still be friend'....
it depends to the emotion between you and your bf. If the emotion is fine, try to ask him to be your friend.
at least both of you are a friend before you coupled....
