My pastor (1st Baptist) shocked everyone in church Sunday by getting up behind the pulpit, before the hymns and everything and stated,
"I have grown to love every one of you over the years, but in a two-year re-evaluation of Christianity, I cannot preach to you in good conscience about something I no longer believe. Prepare yourselves, we are entering a new and exciting age of possibility. I have reviewed the evidence fairly and am forced to find another foundation for faith."
and then he said, "God bless you all!"
Needless to say, the church was in shock, the Pastor went home and moved his stuff out with a U-Haul and the Associate Pastor gave an off-the -cuff sermon in his stead!
My dad (a Deacon) talked with Dr. Jenkins and came home saying that Dr. Jenkins had been involved with a Christian debating team, and the outcome of 2yrs of heavy research has proven that Christianity is indefensible as a means of faith!
He's going to go to Medical School!

If this is true, it's very good news. It's no secret that Christianity is indefensible as a means of faith.

for some reason this makes no sense and I have a hard time believing you.
Mostly because of what you say about "Christianity is indefensible as a means of faith!"
anyone who is a pastor would know something about this statement that is very obvious.
What is the name and location of this Church, I want to write to them to confirm this. I will post my findings in a question here at yahoo. Send me an email with the info please.

How sad. It would appear he didn't really have the knowledge to face the debaters. There is so much evidence to support Christianity but if you don't have a firm grasp on both the culture of the Hebrews and the understanding of the evidence it can lead to doubt. Sadly people seem to argue against Christianity as if the Hebrews had all the science and the cultures of today. They miss the facts because they don't understand the people and the lives they led.

Fortunately the head of Christs church is Jesus Christ, not that guy.
People have been defending the faith for 2000 years. Thats pretty long for something indefensible isnt it?
You can know Gods truth but you have to have faith FIRST. For those that have had a relationship with God, have seen miracles, and seen countless answers to prayer, things like debate teams and questioning your faith is for toddlers of the faith, not adults.

Yes, theologians aren't telling you that all religions and denominations (Baptists included) are man-made. Most of the rituals you practice and holidays you celebrate (i.e. communion, Easter, Christmas) are all derived from pagan practices.
If you take some time and read scriptures without forcing verses to mean what you've been taught they mean, I pray you will understand what I mean. Churches are not teaching the true teachings of the scriptures, they are teaching man-made doctrine. Your pastor probably came across this truth during his debate and could not continue to lead the sheep to the slaughterhouse in good conscience. Perhaps you should try contacting him to find out what has pulled him out of that system.

Old News Pal...it was predicted by Scripture ages ago:
" Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy..."(1Tim.4:1)
"There is a way that seems right to man, but the end thereof is death

What part of faith are people lacking in reasoning? Christianity is the hardest thing that one will ever do, yet we step out in faith.
It's like your being chased by the world and u come unto a ledge. Then u hear a voice that says step out there is a bridge, yet we see none. We decided to step out in faith only to find that there is one, invisible to the eyes of unbelievers.

he seems to have lost his faith after being presented with the facts of the bible Noah was a drunk and most of the other things are true that you hear it does not reflect on your faith. his was resting on that the bible must be fact not a collection of old story's.

Many shall fall by the way side. These last days the SAINTS will wear out, so much more those who profess, but are not. Hang on saints, the time is short, and you will reap if you do not falter.....
Those that endure unto to end shall be saved. Many shall give ear to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

No there are no secrets. It sounds like your former pastor is a wise man. He did not feel competent to pastor the church so he left. Admire him for his honesty and pray for him that he might find peace with his God.

This comes as no surprise. God tells us in the bible that even the elect will be fooled. Your Pastor has lost his way, maybe he never really believed and walked with Jesus in the first place, maybe it was all mechanical. Who knows. i pray that he will find truth finally or again, which ever the case may be. Once again, it is no big shocker.
