I Got the Lap band 3 months ago I did a lot of research before I did it. My sister had the bypass surgery I just could not see myself having someone go in and tear my insides apart what if later in life I end up with a medical problem that would require me to get as much nutrition as I could?? I look at my sister and can see that she is not getting the nutrition she needs she has lost a lot of weight but she looks unhealthy. I went to a yahoo group that has people in every stage of the lap band and read everything I could to see what they were going through all I heard was how happy they were so I went ahead and did it WOW I was a major food addict and now I don't even think about food I have lost over 50lb I have thrown all my Med's away my feet feel and look better I have taken the I will wear it some day box out of storage and donated all the I will never wear again cloths!! The thing is the band changes lives in a very safe way and if I ever need to be back to my old self they just take some saline out of the port that is placed under the skin and im back to myself. Statistics have showed that the lap band is about the very safest surgery you can have. The bypass I hate to say I just heard it on TV a few days ago 1 in every 400 die from that surgery or the complications from it. I only have one regret when it comes to the band and that is I didn't do it sooner. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, Make sure you know what you are doing to your body. I will give you a couple sites that might help you they are from a Yahoo group that had there surgery done in Mexico but still there is so much info for you look over Tracy's site she has pictures and everything you need to know about the band if you have any other questions don't hesitate to email me I will try to help you if not I will hook you up with Tracy and she knows it all.. Good luck to you

P.S. the slippage rate on the band is less than 1% and the success rate is very very high...

I had gastric bypass in 1999. It was the best decision I made, for myself of course. I needed a permanent solution. I have lost over 175 pounds and went from a size 26 to a 12-14. My health is much better now. I opted against the lap band because of the side effects, such as band slippage. I also talked to a lot of bypass and lap-band patients. The bypass patients were the most successful. The most important thing is to speak with a QUALIFIED surgeon, preferrably board certified, and decide which is best for you. How much weight you have to lose and any health issues that you have are big factors for the type of surgery you have. Both are major surgeries. Both require a lifetime commitment to healthy living. Good luck.

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass and lap band surgery have become very common and very safe now. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Obesity surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

i think of that's probably risky interior the long-term to have gastric bypass surgery in view that's irreversible and your physique wil lbe continually scarred. the different surgery i've got faith is back the comparable concern in spite of what that's. I recommend weight-reduction plan and attempting your perfect to get right into a heavily extreme workout application. i woudl take despite day without work of artwork to get your BMI plenty decrease as i'm able to confirm you're incredibly much double the BMI of weight problems. despite you do, weigh your concepts very heavily and positioned your long term well being first previously any cost.

i had a friend almost die from surgical gastric bypass.
an infection presented, spread to her feet, then legs, then pelvis. now she's an amputee. but at least she's thinner.
people, there's a better answer!
1. Reconsider proportions. The avg American eats 2x as large of proportions as needed. It is better to eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day than 3 large meals. Try to avoid eating lesser than 5 hours before bed time.
2. Eliminate the nasty food. Get rid of the drive through. Get rid of the preservatives. Stop eating boxed and (most) frozen foods. Git rid of High Fructose Corn Syrup (check the label). The best way to ensure what you're eating is healthy is to buy at a store that focuses on Organic foods. Also, shop the perimeter (outside) of the stores. That means fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, dairy. Try to eliminate milk and soy milk. They don't help with calcium anyhow! This will help eliminate the nasty ingredients that you're poisoning yourself with. Add a lot of water to your diet to help flush out the nasties that you do come into contact with. You should drink "x oz" of water where x = your weight / 2. If you weight 140 lbs, you should drink 70 oz of water per day.
3. Stimulate your metabolism. Many people start gaining weight after they graduate high school. That's because their metabolism is depleted because they become less active. Start working out with cardio and aerobic exercise. determine your "target pulse" and work with it!
