Is this word purely american or is it derived from another language. Also, just the general history of the word.

The etymology of n* is often traced to the Latin niger, meaning black. The Latin niger became the noun ***** (black person) in English, and simply the color black in Spanish and Portuguese.

It is likely that n* is a phonetic spelling of the white Southern mispronunciation of *****.

well the n word was as you probably know was a way to say how disgusting blacks were..but this word actually means ignorant!!!! Hey but i don't recomend you using the n word as your new vocab. if you know what i mean
