It all depends on what your into if your into skateboards and such yea a mini cooper but if you want alot of power stock and fairly cheap find a ws6 trans am 98-02 you can pick up a 98 for about 12k there ls1 and you can get the 6 speed and there easy to make push over 350-400 rwhp

I have a family friend with a 1989 Volvo 740 with a mustangs drive trane. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. 0-60-0 in 11ish seconds. Fun as hell to be a passenger in, just as long as you hold onto the handle on the roof and pray for dear life. Its at a point where its almost too fast, ALMOST.
My Ranger is going into a transformation, that is almost the same as the Volvo. I'm slowly starting the switch now, I'm in the market for a 5L and 5 speed.

i guess it depends on your idea of fun.
when it comes to speed, and handling my personal favorite is a honda s2000. to me its just an absolute blast to drive. close to that is the bmw z3/z4. similar car but they still drive differently.
another fun vehicle to drive is a jeep wrangler. enjoyable to drive and even more fun to take off road.
none of these are completely practical. the jeep being the most practical but all fun.
