Would someone be kind enough to tell me what the little blue arrows that point downwards to the left of the open envelope icon in the inbox in outlook means please ?

Would very much like to know, would be much obliged and if you can prove it - you get 10 points - simple as that!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help please.

This question seems to be defeating you - got the answer to my last one relatively quickly and to one answer in particular - I think you'll find it's 'pierce' not 'piece the heart' and the 10 points - what can I say - dream on!

Dyslexia is a terrible disorder to have inflicted upon you - let alone not even answering the question I ACTUALLY asked in the first place!

I live in hope

I believe that the arrow means that the email is low priority. The sender selects that before they send the message.

Not sure exactly what your talking about. On my outlook (2003) I have a purple arrow that points left, this means I have replied to an email. I have a blue arrow that points right, this means I have forwarded the email to someone. Never seen one point downwards.
