I heard that cutting soda out of your diet could actually help to clear up your acne. I have pretty bad acne, and I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this. Is it just a myth?

i dont know if its the giving up soda part that clears up the acne or the drinking water instead.... although there have been ties betweed sugar intake and acne, but some disregard the information.

honestly soda is not good for you anyways and drinking pure water will always be best for the body, afterall, the human body is 70% water.

water purifies the body and helps clean and detox your organs, your largest organ being your skin... so to me, logically soda consumption may have a tie to acne.

try a month without it. (it takes a while to clear up and may actually get worse at first... but stick with it!) and see what you think.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.

The secret is never to touch the spots

I dont think it makes that much difference unless it has something to do with sugar. But clear water would be much better for your skin.

Better to drink a lot more water. Also, we found that eating greasy meats was deadly for acne. Skinned meats, lean meats were much healthier. No meat if that is your option. Just cutting down on greasy stuff and of course scrupulous cleasning. This was with the doctor instead of doing the drug treatment ... which we wanted to avoid. Her dad had had awful acne, I had never had zits at all. She had his oily skin.

She was also told to keep her hands away from her face and keep her bangs back for awhile. She used Aveeno acne bar on her back and shoulders and for her face. Things cleared up but she found when she backslid she would get warning pimples.

Now she is 21 and has a complexion that is porcelain perfect and has gorgeous thick bangs. That oily skin is now great, it means she will have soft skin that much longer. as a result. that is her asian side. Blacks and orientals have much better skin than us caucasians when it comes to cracking.

That worked for us.

Try this for acne:

Accutane-an antibiotic and Ziana- a new acne gel. See your dermotologist. Also wash face with cool or cold water, never hot. And never use scrubs or toners, they aggravate acne. Use a mild cleanser and mositurizer like Cetaphil.

no.
acne is infected pores.
no specific food/drink affects acne for every single individual.
I strongly recommend Proactiv Solution.
and Clearasyl on pimples before bed. That stuff works great.

Okay - listen carefully - it is not the soda that's the problem. Getting things like soda, greese from chips, etc. on your hands, and then touching your face WILL clog pores and cause acne. Washing your face helps, washing your face AND hands helps MORE.

No, diet has nothing to do with acne. That's a myth. Acne is caused by overactive oil glands, which happens due to hormones, stress or with excessive perspiration.

But giving up soda will definitely make your teeth happier.

ya it can...the less sugar in your diet the less acne you will get...i remember when i had bad acne i just cut out the soda and replaced it with club soda....it tastes gross at first but it still has the bubbles so it kinda has the same feeling as soda just without the taste plus it counts as water intake so it will help keep your skin clear
